What We've Been Doing...

We have been busily getting ready to go to New York City.  We have been  learning, writing, singing, and finding time to get outside to play.  The boys were scheduled to go today but things have gotten pushed back due to contract negotiations.  This is a great lesson on real life.  Who says that homeschooled children can't experience what happens in the "real" world? The real world comes into our house every day!

Well, the boys have written two new songs and have been singing "Nowhere Man" in three part harmony a cappella.  Of course, my favorite rehearsal is when they work on singing a cappella.  I bake bread and listen.

We may leave for New York today, tomorrow, or Wednesday.  Talk about flying by the seat of your pants!  The boys are learning to trust in the Lord in all things.  They know that they are more than musicians.  The are boys growing up quickly into young men.  They are future husbands and they are good people.  This is our most important goal as parents, to teach our young to be Christian in a non-Christian society, to rely on God's wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, to pray about all things no matter how small we may think they are to God.

Last night we gathered to start a novena to St. Anne.  It is one of my favorites!  We prayed in our cozy little school room, discussed our upcoming week, and giggled and laughed together.

We talked about the wisdom of God and how he is part of all of our lives.  We quoted Sirach,  a book that we have read throughout advent and continue to read together as a family.
