Our family was invited to Long Trail School yesterday to a seminar given by Victor Wooten, Grammy Award winning bassist for the band Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. He worked with a few students from Long Trail and gave great advice. I loved his relaxed manner and seeds of wisdom. He worked with these students for a good hour. He wasn't even going to perform until his friend said, "Victor, you've got to play!" And play he did. All gave him a standing ovation.
Victor Wooten played three songs my personal favorite being "Norwegian Woods" by The Beatles. This guy was truly amazing. Our boys and our girls were in awe. The Long Trail girls wanted a photo with the Burnham Bros. and their autographs. The funny thing? The boys didn't play! I just had to post this pic. We couldn't figure out who the guy was behind Alex. He was in all of the photos with the girls:)
The boys met Victor and he gave them good advice. He, too, was in a band when he was a kid. He was the youngest of five brothers and they had their own band. Parting words? " The Burnham Bros. right? I'll remember that and I look forward to seeing you out there." My single impression of Victor is that he is talented and VERY humble. The Flecktones are nominated for a couple of Grammy Awards again this year! Break a leg!
