Here are photos of a few things that we have been up to from Thursday to Monday...science experiments, art projects, geography, music, and beekeeping all weaved into our daily lives.

Boys songwriting with Fred on Saturday. They are getting ready for a week in New York and are jotting down song ideas. They came up with a new song that Fred is helping to arrange. 
The boys friend, Claude, came by to help with beekeeping. He has been doing this for 30+ years and LOVES bees. They first met this past spring when Grampy needed a new queen bee.
Claude attended the "Live Green" festival a few weeks ago and wanted the boys' autographs. They were truly honored to have him make this request. They signed a setlist from Green and a newspaper insert Claude brought over.
Off the cuff art project stemmed from a walk with our dog and Molly and Lily noticing all of the colorful leaves. "Let's make an art project!" they shouted. And from there they made these.

Our quick science experiment with iodine. If iodine turns blue or black on the selected sample of food then it contains starch. (tortilla, cilantro, green tomato, gouda cheese, beet, wheat germ, brown sugar, noodle, potato)
All of these things were not planned save the music which was planned the day before and even that changed throughout the session. Songwriting is...well...so changeable, science experiments so fun, art so creative and messy, and beekeeping so...yummy yet itchy if you get stung!

Hi Marianne! I'm baaa-aaack! :) It's so fun to see what you guys have been up to! That iodine experiment looks like it would go over really well here - and the art project would too... Of course, our leaves aren't really as pretty here as they are in New England - they change colors - just not quite so vibrantly - and they aren't doing much of anything this year so far. Just going a sickly, dusty orange color. I suppose they might not look too bad on a dark blue background... :)

Hurray!!!!! Glad you are back.!! ...and so glad you stopped by! Yeah...it's been fun getting creative :) We have work books along with hands on. It just makes it easier to keep track of everything. Feeling good so far about the school year and things are running pretty smoothly..I am really surprised!
